The WE Project

The WE Project helps to reduce food waste and hunger in New Jersey. We are an all volunteer based food rescue that serves a community that often faces the grim reality of food insecurity on a daily basis. To get straight to the point...Many people go to bed hungry.

The WE Project

Advocating Change

Inspired by a life-changing event, The WE Project was established in 2018 in Jersey City NJ. I was asked to lend a hand one day at a local food pantry, we only need you to help out for about 3 hours I was told, what I saw changed the way I viewed volunteering and giving back for the rest of my life. I wasn't privileged growing up but I also never wanted for anything.  Here I watched individuals, families, young people, older people, all race , all nationalities coming together for basic necessities. People waited online for a bag of food and did so with a smile. They were grateful. Grateful that this wonderful organization gave them some basic necessities. The question that kept running through my mind was "Is this enough food for 2 weeks" that was the next food pantry. I went home and couldn't get it out of my head that this really goes on in our country, Heck...In our community. I need to fix this, I need to do something is all i could think. If you see the need and you have the means...FIX it.

I locked myself in the office for 2 hours, and The WE Project was born.

Our Organization operates with a pure heart. What WE do is for the good of our community and WE will not stop until WE have made a difference.

What WE do.

How it's done.

The WE Project serves as a HUB and WE coordinate the food distribution to various community based non-profit organizations on a weekly basis... insuring the timely delivery of both perishable and non-perishable foods.

We have started "The Community Table" where we personally bag up healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables for over 200 families. We are dedicated to this mission as our day begins at 4:00 a.m. and by 5:00 a.m. our line starts to form and doesn't slow down until usually noon. The distribution begins at 9:00 a.m. I tell you that to show you that the demand is much greater than the supply.

This my friends only demonstrates the need within the community. WE need to do more. WE need to do better.WE need to give back. You may not have as much as you would like, however, you may have more than most. Always give with a grateful heart.
